This course is devoted to teaching chess to the students and also to provide them with experience by matching up players with similar skill levels. Students of all skill levels are welcome, from beginners who have never played to intermediate and advanced players.
The usual class begins with a 15 minute lecture on chess strategy, exercises with chess puzzles, or a review of students' games for analysis. Afterward, the students are matched up in tournament fashion based on the number of games that they have won. At the end of each semester, prizes are awarded for those who have won the most games.
